Quick, morning-after thoughts on "The Thing with Feathers"

Monroe's personal recollection about the klaustreich: "Well, the cops didn't get him, but...somebody did." My squee-meter hit the red, and I think my ovaries threw confetti in the air. That voice. THAT VOICE. He's so smug and satisfied -- this is one kill Monroe clearly doesn't regret. I love kind, adorkable, brainy, model train-collecting Monroe, but those moments when the show reminds us that under all that, he's still lethal, are *divine*.

And I have to go back and rewatch, but I think Nick caught his drift -- and smirked about it.

And, of course, the proposal scene. It broke my heart, but I think Juliette did the right thing. She's sticking with him, and giving him the chance to open up to her -- but she won't enter into a marriage knowing that there's something he's hiding from her. Juliette isn't naive, she isn't a doormat, and she isn't blind. she loves Nick enough to be patient with him, and to stick with him, but she called him on the fact that he's not being honest, and she won't take that next step until he *can* be honest with her. That's beyond fair -- and Nick knows it. His reaction is pain at her refusal, but it's also shame at being called on hiding things from her, and, I think, fear at the prospect of the explanation he knows he has to give to get what he wants. He can;t pretend anymore that he can have Juliette and keep part of himself caged up and out of her sight, and I think Nick has really been clinging to that.

I have to say, I think DG's acting in that moment is his single best performance on this show to date. I agree with Juliette's handling of the situation, but I feel for Nick, too. He loves Juliette so much, he's scared to death, and very understandably so.

Longer thoughts later, but I'll finish with this: "Like a concubine. Or a parakeet," gets the award for the funniest freaking line of the night. There's a whole lot of middle ground between those things, Monroe; just sayin'. LMAO.
