Holy hell, I was not expecting that. I was thinking maybe --*maybe* -- she was going to be Nick's "godmother," chosen by Marie. And then...that. O_0
Juliette! Oh my goodness. Oh. My. Goodness.
More coherent thoughts later.

Poor Nick. Poor Juliette. Poor Hank. (Monroe and Rosalee better get with the romancin', to balance out all the angst coming down the pipe!)

I'm thinking maybe the Grimm thing is generational. Like as soon as one member of a generation dies, someone from the next generation is activated. In this case, Nick was the only member of the next generation, so when Marie was dying, he got it -- but maybe if Marie had had children, it would have gone to them first? I'm trying to remember now if Marie ever said explicitly that there would only be one in a family at a time. I assumed that Marie came into her power when Kelly died, but maybe not -- maybe they were both active at once.
Or, as some other people have suggested, maybe there was a parental switcheroo pulled, Kelly was the aunt, and Marie was actually Nick's mother.
I don't know. We need more info. More info, please!
