I totally agree. The keeping of the woman in the dark and then blaming her for the fall is ringing medieval bells for me. When Juliette remembers that Nick took her to Monroe to explain something and then Monroe doesn't tell her? STUPID and CRUEL from a character who is ordinarily intelligent and kind. You're precisely right that this whole mess has been plot driven rather than character driven. Of course a character named Juliet should expect to have her story blown to bits by lack of communication. But I'm rather sick of female victims, which is why my current favourite show is "Leverage" where women have power and agency and their own stories often without the men being involved at all. And they have conversations with other women that involve things other than men. The character Parker has to be one of my favourite fictional women. I'll keep watching Grimm so I can comprehend your comments, but they'd better get away from that sixteenth-century all women are either victims or villains mentality.
It *is* cruel. Thank you. I don't get why people can't understand Juliette's anger at Nick in this episode. Is her blow-up about Adalind's arrest a little misplaced? Yeah -- a *little* -- but Nick *did* use her to that end, and after everything else, if I were her, I'd be breathing fire, too
( ... )
Also notice how they had to get rid of the only other decent female in the story because Rosalee would not have let the men fubar this situation at all like they've done.
Well, technically they had to get rid of her so Bree Turner could go on leave to have her newest little nugget, but yeah, you're right. I cannot wait for Rosalee to get back in town, because I'm hoping she's going to knock some sense into these men.
I'm also very much hoping that the future holds some good Juliette/Rosalee interaction, and that the two of them work to together to get from Adalind the pound of flesh that she owes Juliette.
Oh, also -- jumping topics, here -- this is the addy for the Grimm blog I contribute to (though between the new teaching gig and test prep, my contributions this season have been fewer and farther between than I would like): http://grimmstincts.blogspot.com/
I could have sworn I posted this on lj at one point, but in looking back, I see I did not. Not sure how that didn't happen, because I have very distinct memories of thinking, "I need to post this link on my journal."
