NBC should watch an episode or two of Bones. Grimm hasn't even approached the horrible, disgusting things that show deals with. Granted the crimes in Bones are in the past and what you see are the putrefying results. So perhaps there is more terror associated with watching the actual crime take place? It seems to me once you've reached a certain level of painting the screen with red, more is superfluous.
Y'know, I've watched Bones here and there, and while I really like David Boreanaz, I've realized I'm not a huge fan of Emily Deschenal. (Not sure I spelled that right.)
I think the difference for me, with the crime lab shows, is that at the point they bring the viewer in, everything about it that's personal is removed, and it's more...bits and parts and science. (But on the other hand, I can't do medical shows. They squick me out big time.)
All I know is, reading the spoilers for this one, if this one takes a turn down Cronenberg Road, I'm jumping out of the car while it's still moving.
Oh, also, I have other spoilers/spec for 2.14, if you're interested. These come from what looks to be a call sheet for that ep (I think I have my terminology right there), so they're very detailed, but also very incomplete. I don't want to overspoil you if you don't want to be, though.
I've never seen Emily Deschenal (don't know if you spelled it right either, but I'll go with it) act in anything else, so I don't know if her acting is good or bad, but Temperance Brennan seems a lot like the bizarre academics I've met, and yes, they are hard to like unless you like your friendships with a touch of monomania and megalomania :D The character seems very much like that. Her interactions with people are stilted, and she is always putting both feet in her mouth and not caring that she's done so. She's almost like a Spock or Data character in the show--always just a little off on how to be human and sometimes proud of it and sometimes oblivious and sometimes crushed by it. If that's how E. D. always acts, I can see it would be a problem, but for Dr. Brennan, it works for me. She's certainly not the polished, loveable female lead that is typical in most shows which is a nice change. And any show that uses words of six syllables and doesn't define them is good by me (what can I say--former science major

You could be right about ED; I've seen her in a couple of movie roles, as well, but in retrospect, they weren't great movies, so they might not have been much of a showcase for her

Guess what? On a totally off topic, I've posted another chapter of Crossing the Bar. I don't know if you've read chapters 27 and 28, but 29 has finally consented to be finished. Hooray!
YAY! I think I'll go back and read those chapters regardless -- I don't remember now what the last part I read was, and a refresher would hardly be a chore. ;) That will be my late-night unwinding activity tonight, since I'm working all three of my jobs today.
