I can't give you the exact coordinates, because I don't know. I'm not sure anyone that's been brought here knows. The town is called Mayfield, and there have been some people who have been here years. I've just been here two months.

I am Dr Ilsa Higa. The drones call me Mrs Cho. Two months ago I was in Atlanta, ready to start a new practice. This town sees me as a housewife and part-time typist.

[Hal shields his eyes against the sun, the rows of neat homes reminding him distinctly of base housing. He takes her hand in a firm shake, ushering her in to the living room.]

[ There's just enough of a pause for someone with quick reflexes to notice that Ilsa scans the area for the drone-wife before answering. ]

Ilsa. It's not as confusing to the drones. That way I spend less time arguing with them. Women can't be doctors here, according to the rules I've picked up. According to them, we've always lived here, and though they don't seem to see half of what happens here, they can get insistent at times.
