Another question for you Larpers out there

How would you like to see a Gypsy Curse work?
Detailed ideas would be much appreciated, if you have something in mind.

Also, if anyone wants me to send them the Races and Cultures, or wants to give feedback and can't get to them, please also leave a note here with your email addy.

Thanks!

I've never been a fan of Gypsy curse in NERO. It's never used and when it has been it's been kinda lame.

"May my bells never ring again, should you not have the nose of a pig/have the tail of a rat/try to bite your own butt after every 4 steps/etc."

I personally like the way that it's done in Madrigal - where you are given the choice of either Silence or Weakness to affect the target. Give them a real skill to use and make it worth the purchase and also make it a bit scarier/threatening to tick off a gypsy.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Interesting, you're the second person that I've heard this from.
Thanks so much for your input!

Glad I'm not the only one! Now I don't feel so crazy. You're most welcome. I'm very happy to help. :)

GC being status effects does sound interesting, I can see it being any of the spirit magic type debuffs, weakness, silence, poison, disease, wither limb, etc ( ... )

How about NOT killing the gypsy that placed it. I'm a big fan of that. I can't tell you how tired I am of some asshat who thinks he can speak nothing but insults to be "because I'm a gypsy" then says he'll just go and get his buddies to come beat me down if I do anything about it.

I love that way to remove it though. It goes both ways and I've been on the other side of that coin where a gypsy thinks they can insult people all they want and others won't do anything about it because they are afraid of getting cursed. Considering that the curse is likely to make me do something I'd hate to do as a player, I'm more in favor of the "kill the gypsy" to remove it side, so the gypsies have to curse with care. The way to get around it, is that if someone is being a REAL asshat, get all the gypsies there to curse him/her at the same time, so he's got to get his buddies to kill ALL of you to remove them...and you'd be suprised how quick those friends bail when they start getting cursed or rolled in return. Gypsies have a pack mentality. Use it!

Also, for my character personally, I don't care if I have a pig nose until I find another gypsy friend to remove it. I'll perm a gypsy that curses me if I don't think I deserve it so it's just a bonus that it gets rid of the curse.

Kinda doesn't work when the town decides to gang up on you too. There's a reason why I didn't go to ETN for a year after that first time you know.

Why do "gyspies' have to have a curse ability? This past weekend was the first time I've ever seen a curse work the way it was supposed to. Both myself and the PC I cursed understood what was happening and there were not hard feelings either IP or OOP.

Personally my opinion on a gypsy curse is it should be a ritualized thing with a very specific IG effect as stated as part of the ritual. To me the NERO version taking place in combat was at best hard to understand and hear all of what they were saying and at worst blatantly ignored. Making it a ritual brings it closer to its heritage of being a gypsy curse, makes it more clearly and easily communicated via marshal, and makes it much cooler roleplaying wise for everyone involved. So far as removing it I'd say a second ritual has to be performed either by the gypsy who cursed them or another gypsy who knows the specifics of the curse. Just my thoughts on the matter.
