I think it's the fact that the word "Hospice" to most people means "Imminent Death," or at least "Unpleasant Eventual Death" that kicked me in the junk today

You poor thing. nobody in my family ever told me shit either. When my grandmother died, nobody told me until 3 days later one day before the funeral. I couldn't go. People still pissed at _me_. Anyway, suffice to say I empathize and it BUH_LOWS. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's just ultra suck.

Thanks. I called and talked to her briefly yesterday (her 89th birthday). She's weak, tired, but cogent.

My family's weird - we'll either get way to much "The sky is falling!" info or not much at all.

But thanks. Fortunately I have some great folks in my generation of the family, that helps a lot, and great friends.
