A tutorial was requested for this icon:
Photoshop CS // Selective Color // Difficulty: Easy
This coloring only works on images with a VERY light base.
01. Cropped base (cap by
oxoniensis)
02. Duplicate the base twice, set the first duplicate to Screen 100%, the second to Screen 60%.
-->
03. New hue/saturation adjustment layer. Increase saturation to +40.
-->
04. New selective color adjustment layer.
My settings were:
RED -100 0 +100 0
YELLOW -30 0 -30 0
NEUTRAL +30 0 -20 0
-->
05. New color balance adjustment layer.
My settings were:
MIDTONES 0 +14 +20
-->
06. Stamp a copy of your icon so far by making a new layer and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E. Duplicate your stamped layer twice, setting both duplicates to soft light, 100%.
-->
07. Add this texture by
_excentric_ (
here). I resized it and cropped it until it looked good on the icon.
08. I felt like I needed something to soften the change between icon image and texture, so I created a new layer in between the last soft light layer and the texture, and added a white brush that I made myself so it just peeks out beyond the texture.
-->
Done.
