I keep watching movies like Star Trek, as well as the series (plural), and the same thoughts come back to me. Same for Star Wars: the vast majority of the people that you think are so great in those movies wouldn't last a minute in an American military academy, or probably even make it through Basic Training. I'm thinking about re-writing the last Star Trek, to reflect their encounter with people from "our" Earth, interacting with people from our institutions, and dealing with people with our mentality.

Shouldn't be a very long story, considering how we take care of things.
