You cannot help feel sorry for them and be glad it was not you caught in that situation. But you are totally right in what you say. I did send £20 to the Tsunami fund even though at the time I was TOTALLY broke myself. (I just happened to have 2 numbers come up on my reg lottery numbers which I do no matter how broke I am or I know they will all come up the day I don't get the ticket.)
Charity should begin with your closest. We already subcsibe to Cancer charity and the RSPCA.

yeah, funny how people don't give to the red cross till shit like this happens. thousands of people die every year from hunger, but when a lot of death happens all at once, THEN it matters. sure.
