Dearest Harry,

Ah, I was wondering what would become of the dear lady at this time of the year. Certainly she'll be happy on her own; I do hope you're not too occupied thinking of her. Regardless, I don't think I'd mind at all keeping you company on Christmas. Yes -- quite agreeable. ...If I have any other plans, I doubt they're so important as that. Really, Harry, leave the concern over schedules to me. There's no need to fret over them when it's Christmas.

Dorian,

She tells me she intends to go to church, and I suppose after that there will be an invitation elsewhere. She won't be entirely on her own, in any case, so she doesn't seem to mind- most fortunately, since I should hardly like to be dragged along to church at such a time as Christmas. Hardly the day for such things. --I wasn't worrying, of course, but things do become absolute chaos over the holidays, after all. The various obligations become simply maddening. I shall be very glad to see you again.

--Henry
