Go with #2. I mean, it is ultimately your life and your decision, but what I feel I know of Robyn Saxer, I feel as if she will feel more fulfilled and satisfied by pursuing route #2 first, then on to #1. You'll be able to go into NY with experience under your belt (granted, a different KIND, but experience nonetheless), and in my opinion, going with option #2 will keep you from becoming disappointed/disillusioned/jaded/can't think of any other words but I think you get the picture/etc when you DO get to NY and start getting work there (which you WILL!). That experience will always be in your mind, reminding you what a difference ators really DO make in others' lives on a day-to-day basis, reminding you of the reasons you do theatre, reminding you that it's not "just a job." It will keep you going when things get rough.
