[There's no preamble or context leading up to the video. It's meant to be private, so Izuna spares no wasted breath on filling his audience in on what the one person intended already knows. He offers no censorship, since the man doesn't suffer a weak stomach.

Cut for disturbing/triggery imagery. )

If Severus has trouble cleaning this up, I'll stop by.

Vincent slunk down to wherever Izuna is, watching silently from the door.]

[He smiles, because he always smiles, but the relief is there. He's been worried.]

[He probably smelt worse during his career as a lab rat anyway.]
Do you need ... ?
[The question stops because Vincent is not quite sure what someone who just pulled out their own replacement eyes might need, really.]

I'm fine, I'm fine ... It doesn't hurt.

Is he going to admit this? No. Of course not. Never! It'd mean sacrificing his pride, something he's not quite willing to do yet, if ever.
He runs a hand through his hair and sighs.]
Thanks, Izuna, I think I just lost my lunch.

Well, James gets a taste of the sharp wit that hooked his friendship with Severus in the first place.
He speaks without lifting his head, and drops another fingerful of - something - in the sink with far more force than necessary.]
I'd recommend a tonic for your stomach, laced with tact. Anything I can do to help ease your pain through this troubling time?

It doesn't hurt, does it?
[With a careful concern.]

It doesn't, not exactly. These eyes aren't mine, the only part that hurt was removing the fiddly cord bit that attached them. I'd liken it to putting adhesive over scar tissue, then ripping it away once its stuck.
Its an uncomfortable sensation but not a painful one. Physically.
[What compelled him to specify? He sighs at himself, disgusted on so many levels. If he starts weeping and hurling things like a distraught woman, even ritualistic suicide won't salvage his pride in the morning. New lows, new lows.]

You might want to hide the PCD the next time you rip an eyeball out.

[Well ... that's an understatement. His hands shake and fist, only to relax forcefully a moment later. He can't lose his temper at Zuko, its not Zuko's fault. Izuna knows this, but it makes his false smile no less tense in the knowing.
Everyone has an opinion on the aesthetic vulgarity. No ones asked if he's alright. Comments like this would have been easier for him to stomach with a precursor of concern, even faked.]

[Zuko rarely asks people if they're okay, mainly because if it were him, that would be the last thing he'd want to hear. Of course Izuna isn't okay. The man's eyes are rotting out of his sockets. But he carefully chooses his next words, in a manner that would avoid asking Izuna what he's trying to do -- because it's obvious -- and still ensure his safety.
He's Sasuke's uncle, after all.]
You should go to Unohana to get yourself cleaned up.
[It wouldn't do to have the rot spread to the rest of Izuna's face.]

What are you doing.

[He's almost finished the extent of what he can do alone. Severus is coming with a potion or trick to wash away what he couldn't reach, and collect the remains to find what went wrong.
He keeps his head down to hide the wrecked look of his face from view, and props a hip wearily against the counter.]
It did work... for awhile. Something went wrong, but he's done me a service. I saw colors. Light, shapes...
