Appearances can be misleading, but if you're right...

They are intelligent and can learn quickly but might choose not to obey; this is not a dog for a beginning or shy owner."

I think "socialize" means both human and animal.

In this, I see much more "Saint" temperament than not. He's been amazing to the letter so far with all people - human and canine. Plays well with other four foots. Surprisingly mellow with humans. We went to Rita's for custard and ice the other evening. Probably 40 people in line. He staying right with us, laid down each time we moved, stayed prone when the four and two year old in front of us petted him.

I think he looks a lot like what Rose found. I also think a saint/coonhound/something else mix is entirely possible.
