+ Never ever make it boring, our eyes will be on Coraline +

This next event will be something a bit different, and a little tricky, especially for anyone who hasn't seen or read Coraline. Hopefully we'll be able to coordinate the next event enough to make it awesome. ♥

Coraline's main premise involves a young girl finding a door in her very own house that leads to a strange, different world, one where all the dull and dreary things of her everyday life have transformed into the strange, exciting place she's always wanted it to be. Even the people are different: other versions of her family and neighbors, transformed nearly beyond recognition. Where you have breakfast for dinner and your other-neighbors perform acrobatic feats every evening, and everything you could have wished for is granted-- why wouldn't you leave?

Naturally, of course, this perfect world has just one tiny, itty-bitty little catch:

If you want to stay, you'll have to let the other-mother sew on buttons for eyes.

After that, you're hers forever.

The event will span three days [Sunday the 13th to Tuesday the 15th]. On Sunday, everything is perfectly normal-- except for the the fact that it's raining cats and dogs outside, making going outside the Mansion, if not impossible, at least very uncomfortable. It's a full-on thunderstorm that lasts all day. As the residents of the Mansion go about their daily business, sooner or later, they'll run into something strange-- a small ragdoll with button eyes that looks like them, right down to the threads of yarn that form its hair and the painstakingly crafted doll's clothes. Creepy, but otherwise harmless, the dolls seem to follow your character everywhere -- even if they try to leave them behind or throw them away, you keep finding them, almost seeming to...watch.

When characters wake up on Monday, they'll find themselves in a rather unhappy predicament: the communicator won't work, the door of their room is locked (and no amount of force can seem to break either the door or the walls), and (for those sharing rooms) their roommate is missing. That's not all: there's a small, locked door in their wall and a small black key with a button for a grip on their bed. Of course, they could choose to wait out the event, but should they decide to try fitting the key to the lock, they'll find it's a perfect fit...

And when they step through, they'll find themselves in whatever version of Wonderland they've always wanted to see.

Perhaps it could resemble something from home, or perhaps it's the kind of place they've always wanted to live. Whatever it is, this Other-Wonderland is unique to each character: its their ideal world, after all. It's made just for them. However, they aren't alone: other characters in the Mansion are here as well, though not perhaps quite as they know them, and instead of eyes, they have buttons instead. These Other-Versions, just like the world itself, are oddly attentive to your character, obeying their every whim and fulfilling their every wish.

And once they comfortable, they'll be offered a choice: to stay, or to go?

That's something only they can decide.

HOW DOES THIS WORK OOCly?
Just as it sounds, your character is isolated from the rest of the Mansion: journal posts for the duration of the event are essentially self-contained. (Their communicators work once they enter the Other-Mansion, but no other 'real' characters can reply to it.) This sounds like it makes for limited interaction, but that's where the main fun of the event comes in: you'll essentially end up playing multiple versions of your own character. To give a clearer example, let's use Kobato, Vexen, and Arland. Kobato wishes Vexen would be a happier person, so in her version of the Mansion, Other Vexen might be cheerful and positive (and bubbling over with love). Arland, who has quite a few more issues with Vexen, might wish he had more of Vexen's explicit approval, or even respect. Arland's idea of Other Vexen might be as a warmer version of him, proud of his replica and what he's achieved.

It might get a little confusing to play several versions of the same character at once, but the general rule of thumb is that the point of all this is to convince the character that they should stay in the Other Mansion forever! As long as you play up to that for each character, it should give you a clear and consistent idea of how to go about it. Of course, this works to your best advantage if you have some idea of what another character's ideal version of yours would be, so feel free to use this post for coordinating. We'll be making the first thread for questions/clarifications, so you can find them quickly.

Agreeing to have the buttons sewn on (accepting the illusion, in short) will count as a Mansion death. The Queen will be appearing to make this offer-- presenting characters with a box with a pair of buttons and giving them the choice to leave or to stay-- but only to characters who are close to accepting the Other Mansion themselves.

Characters who outright reject the Other Mansion or refuse the Queens offer will find the world suddenly disintegrating under their feet, into nothing. The Other versions of the residents of the Mansion will start to fall apart as well, revealing themselves for the false things they are (for example, ringleader of the amazing mouse circus being made of rats, the awesome new versions of the neighbor-ladies being made of all the taffy they ever tried to feed you, silent version of the neighbor-boy is made of sawdust, etc. Sorry guys, my google-fu has failed me).

Eventually, all that will be left of what was once a living, breathing world is nothing but a blank, empty, white space. There is nothing at all in this "world". Once they find themselves here, characters will find that their communicators function again, and they can encounter other residents of the Mansion who have similarly been ejected out of their worlds...

Once the Mansion returns to normal, characters will find a small souvenir on their beds: the same small dolls that they saw on the first day of the event, only with the button eyes completely removed. ♥
