copperwise said in her response to Rm's poll that both of her last two instances of unwanted contact came from women. Can "creepy guy" be defined gender neutrally?
In that regard, for the sake of completeness, I'd personally go with "Open Source PEOPLE Back Each Other," since I'd be just as happy to have a guy watch my back, and me watch his, in service to creating a safer world. But it's your project, so you can totally do whatever you want. And I think it's awesome either way.
I'm happy for guys to help (you see what I did there?)
But this is not an equal situation. There is no symmetry here. This is specifically a problem that almost exclusively women have, and when men try to help, some of them are awesome, and some of them want to reach out and heal you WITH THEIR PENIS.
I'm not going to pretend that it would feel exactly the same to go up to a random girl at a con and say "Can I duck into your room for a second? I'm hiding from that guy..." and to go up to a random guy and say the same thing.
Both men and women can be harassers. Both men and women can be victims. But the odds are not even, and I'm not going to act like they are.
Dude, that's what I want. Not that it isn't lots of fun to be told I'm awesome, but what I would really like to get out of this? I would like people to take it and make it their own. Attribution is not even necessary! Just let's back each other up!
