One thing that struck me about Indonesia is how cheap flying is here. I've flown about 10 times in the last 10 days - the average flight is about 1.5-2 hours. Here is an example of a flight I just took today - Jakarta - Bali (1.5 hours, ~ 1,000 km):

On the other hand, when the pilot we met told us that he had two whole years of flight school in Indonesia before flying the plane, it did sound a bit spooky.

2. Some lowcosters fuck you with fees - so you have to be on your guard all the time against them (which I hate)

Dude. The worst domestic safety record possibily outside some African countries is the price of such encouragement. You'd rather pay more, trust me.
One day ask me about my experience staying overnight in a boarding house provided by an Indonesian airline for a connection they missed, and about my experience returning from Burma to Bangkok on AirAsia nearly under civil arrest. Consider yourself lucky you MERELY paid little.
