Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is very interesting visually, but let's say plot has come a long way. BUT! The "mental home" thing at the beginning and end was forced upon the filmmaker, so think about that.

And at the end, right? I don't remember it that well, as I have only seen it 1 1/2 times (had to watch it for class, fell asleep halfway through once and so watched again from the beginning) but I thought it was a bookending deal.

Yeah, it was a bookending piece, and a wicked lame one at that. Heh, wicked, I'm from Mass. It's an interesting piece, but yeah, I watched it for a class too, and definitely had trouble keeping my eyes open for parts.
