So, I've decided that maybe I'll travel now and work later, lol. That sounds pretty good to me ; ) I just don't know if I want to accept a job and then have to quit so soon after, so when it doubt, leave the country! I'm not saying for sure one way or the other- I might very well take a full-time position somewhere, but I also might not. I ( Read more... )

Yeah traveling sounds nice, and I agree taking a job and then quitting so soon doesn't always work out to your advantage in the long run. I would travel too, but it's not just car payments I need to make...there is also the issue of funding myself to travel. It's great if you have parents who will pay for it, but for the majority (like 99%) none of our parents are going to say they will front up money. Yeah, car payments and rent hold some people back, but it's worth having a car but if you have no payments then there are no problems to just up and leave whenever (payments depend if it's a new car or not and if you have loans) if you are going to be commuting back and forth from differnt places frequently. I would rather much be in control of my mobility than relying on the bus system. If I weren't commuting to grad. school and work, traveling would be nice, but it isn't an option right now. Sure it sucks doing so but it's reality, at somepoint we all have to pay bills. Maybe I misinterpreted what you were saying, and if so ( ... )

No, I think you might have misunderstood me. I don't think there's anything wrong with financial commitments, and I do have monthly bills and such, too, albeit they don't amount to much at the moment (they will amount to more very soon), but that's not the point. And I know that even people who have those responsibilities can travel, especially if you have money saved up for the bills, or you can sublet an apartment, etc. Cars are great, there's no doubt, but not for me at this stage, that's all. And who knows? Maybe I'll end up taking a job and driving more often. And yeah, if your parents are willing to pay for you to travel, it's a very wonderful opportunity, and one that tends to be rare. I never said my parents were going to pay my travel bills, they ( ... )
