Wow, everyone wants to learn a string instrument now of some sorts (including me but I want guitar =P). Can't say it's hard or easy since I've never played but I know people who've tried/suddenly decided to switch to. It'll take a while so you'll need quite some practice. But if you're musically inclined, which you are, it shouldn't take as long as you think.

I hear violin is pretty hard, compared to most images. Or it could be that it's the 2nd stereotypical Asian instrument. Or it could be that it has the most expensive instruments.

But you're musically inclined, so you'll be able to play well.
