why would someone go off on such a tangent about un-cited rumors?

that's what is so ridiculous about all of this... what has happened is so unbelievable that you find yourself believing everything you hear.

yes, response was much slower than we think it should have been, but i can sort of understand. the situation was so dangerous--when rescue helicopters and rescue boats are being fired upon, why would they send citizens like the red cross into the middle of that?
yes, the national guard should have been deployed earlier, i won't argue with that one bit, but there was no precedence for this...nothing of this magnitude has ever taken place and i think it just stunned everyone for a bit. no excuse though.
but yeah, i think that commentary is a little out there. just my opinion.

I'm not really sure what to say about that.

On one hand, I can see why he's angry, and he has every right to be angry.

But, on the other hand - I think people are just making this into too much of a race issue. I've had it with people making every single damned thing in this country a race issue, white or black. Part of the reason why racism still exists in this country is because people are constantly clinging onto skin color and seeing things in literally, black and white.

Let's stop pointing the finger on how this is some giant conspiracy against blacks and how if this were a city full of whites, we wouldn't have this problem. It's just so absolutely absurd to me. I understand racism still exists and there is a lot of discrimination against blacks still, and still a battle for civil rights. But, things like that blog entry...it doesn't do any good for anybody.

Let's help everyone, and stop focusing on race, and what race is doing what to who.
