eating watermelons

Alright so my friend just mentioned 3D films to me and I guess I'm going to just let the wall break down and bitch and rant like a little bitch okay?

No 3D is not 'cool', it is not 'hip', it is not even 'awesome' anymore. It's fucking boring and a waste of money and just a simple way to double your movie ticket so that the big guys behind the film can make that much more money.

When it was first brought in it worked. It was used sparingly and at appropriate times, but now it's just like "Oh let's put it in everywhere and charge people $18 for a ticket and just overuse it because it's 'cool'".

THIS is why I no longer go to the cinema, despite the fact that I have free tickets. Let me just put something straight, my mother gets paid from teaching Korean with movie tickets and because she never goes she gives them to me. Do I use them? No. Because for starters, the films that I actually want to watch are never released in cinemas and only available in the States so I can't actually go and physically watch them and I just stream it online. Also if there is a movie that I want to watch that is being released in Australia it's always in 3D and the 2D versions are only available at certain cinemas and it annoys me. Also the free ticket doesn't even cover 3D films so there really is no point.

So how do I partake my revenge on the cinemas? I steal their damn 3D glasses and I watch at least 3 films for every ticket that I buy. And no I have never been caught why? Because the security sucks at these places.

The last 3D film I watched was Cars 2, mainly because I was with the guy I liked plus Cars is my favourite Disney + Pixar film so I thought that I'd give it a shot. And I'm not going to lie, the 3D worked quite nicely with it. No I haven't watched The Lion King in 3D because I really do not see how it could possibly work, films that haven't been originally filmed in 3D do not work. Let me just get that message loud and clear. If a film hasn't been filmed with 3D cameras and all that equipment, it will not work. It'll just be this weird hologram look about it and it'll look tacky and disgusting and be a waste of your money.

The next 3D film I'll be watching will probably be in about 3 years. Because by that point 2D films at cinemas will be pretty much non-existent. I want to watch Tintin but not in 3D. Never. I love Spielberg and his work, even Peter Jackson at times, but in 3D? No. I'm not watching The Hobbit in 3D either. NO FUCKING WAY. Tolkien is a genius and his works cannot be tainted by 3D.

And look you can have your own opinion about 3D films, please be my guest. I don't mind if you love it or enjoy it or whatever it is, but do not shove it down my throat saying how great it is. Yes I have friends who tell me that 3D is the greatest thing to come since sliced bread, but it really isn't.

If I ever do make it in the film industry as a director or film maker or something and I have to work on a 3D film, believe me I will do everything in my power to prevent the 3D or at least use it to the best of my ability at its greatest power. You can call me old and tell me how 2D will inevitably die out, but it won't. It never will. In cinemas yes. But you know, everything is now revolving around the computer and the internet and the point is, people aren't going to pay over a grand for a 3D screen or whatever it is that'll make 3D films work on a computer. TV has already happened and I have a friend with it, even he says it's pointless now because it hurts his eyes after a few hours and he can no longer stand it.

Okay I understand that 3D films is an inevitability and I don't mind it, as long as it is used properly. Use it properly and I will applaud you and bow down at your awesomeness, but please do not use it every second on every fucking frame because it sucks.

/end rant.
