Are you going to be living with a roommate in your new place, or by yourself, or with Cody? Howe Avenue can be...tough, depending on which part of Howe you are on. If you are from Howe until about Arden its good...but after that it might become a bit sketchy. But, on the other hand there is a lot of stuff to do and go at Howe. Arden is a great place for everything! Food, clothing, you name it! Plus, if you have a Costco card, there is a Costco near by. And, Joanne's Fabric (*fabric whore*). So, I think the +s out weigh the -s, you just have to be street savvy and you will be fine, I think.
As for your dad, that is an unpleasant state of affairs. If mediating does not work out...I guess I would say do the classic American thing to do and sue him. It is his responsiblity, and living on your own while going to school seems practically impossible nowadays, I think.
I'm not sure which end of Howe I'm on... probably the crappy end, lol! All I know is that it's about 3 miles away from campus. I think the apartment complex is called Northwood. It's gated, so hopefully that will help keeping me safe. I'm certainly not someone who would walk around alone at night. I unfortunately didn't really focus on safety in my apartment hunting, but rather on convenience :(. Maybe I'll learn from it for the future! For now, I'm living by myself, but if Cody finds work, he might move in with me :).
