How long do you have to be in a job for before is it acceptable to look for a new one?

I worked at the BBC for 3 months before leaving. Generally 3 months is considered a short time, but it depends how often you do it, I suppose.

Sarah's last flatmate was offered a much better job on her first day somewhere, but they guilt-tripped her so much she ended up offering to work a fortnight unpaid.
I lasted 2 months and 4 months in my last 2 workplaces, by the end of which I was a veritable veteran in both places.

I went to another interview during my first week here. But it was for a company that was actually evil, and I failed it anyway.

These are all very encouraging thoughts. Have seen a v nice job, but problems are a) have only been here a bit over a year and b) deadline is Monday, so a bit of a rush. But from above responses, a year sounds pretty good...

I think so long as your CV isn't full of one year stints at various places people won't mind. Come to think of it, mine is and people still don't seem to mind too much.

So is mine and I have to resist the urge to highlight the job that lasted longer (a whole year and a half) and surround it with biro stars.
