Can you be both?

 I was an ad in The Buffalo News today. Well, my blog was. I didn't think it was possible to advertise a blog in a newspaper, but it was. The ad called me "bright and optimistic."

Isn't optimism (and lol, by the way. Am I? Really?) really often little more than self-inflicted ignorance about circumstances as they are? Or at least conscious, focused ( Read more... )

Optimism isn't ignorance. Or, it anyways doesn't have to be. It can just be hope for the improbable (or, depending on the situation, the perfectly probable).

Only pessimists criticize optimism that much. :P

Optimism is accepting things the way they are and being confident in one's own ability to overcome adversity. I keep trying to tell people, hope is not a bad thing.
