Charitable Giving

I'll link to your post, soon.

For 2007, I decided to put charitable donations into my monthly budget, for my benefit (tax deductions) and because it's less of a bite into my funds. This way, a donation is like paying an invoice, only I get the fun of deciding the amount.

Thanks for this post, Viv.

Thanks for the links and the explanations; I especially like the idea of a monthly donation via credit card! I donate the bulk of my charitable dollars (and goods) to my local food pantry; food is such a lifelong passion for me, and the thought of anyone in this country of waste and wealth going hungry -- particularly that it's happening in my fairly ritzy town -- just horrifies me. I know there are so many other bigger and global issues, but this one hits too close to home to ignore. It's so basic, and so necessary, and I can't bear the idea that my neighbor might not have enough to eat. I do give regularly all year -- pretty much every time they send me a mailer -- but I'm going to look into some kind of monthly mechanism from them. Heck, I might even suggest they set one up!

Thanks again for the gentle nudge. :)
