nah see, the binary state got removed way back when--when the english got lazy and threw out all the t sounds in the middle of words such as little...and often.
now we apply a verbal-filler type modification to the word to in order to describe the degree of which it is occuring.
For intstance--if you've got yourself a five year old child who just said, "daddy---where do babies come from" at that moment that's..."notso cute" because um...awkward. but then later when you're retelling the story--it because "terribly cute" and then another 5 years later, its "totally cute"
Its just describing the level. its also a verbal filler though (thus not needed), which totally negates what I had to say just there.
here's a question: if someone says to you, "How are you." what is the correct response?
Well the "PC" response would of course be a one or two word answer, "Fine" or "I'm Fine" sometimes replacing "Fine" with "Good" for variety ... so those you don't want to get interested, don't.
But I don't actually think there is a correct response to the severely loaded question - How are you?

It's like: very exquisite, semi-obsolite, or half-dead.
They're binary words ... like "cute".
