"Take Me Home Country Roads" reminds me of my dad, he used to sing it to me as a kid and it almost always makes me misty eyed if not cry. Good 'ol John Denver.

There are a million and a half good books that are set in the south, you could read them and feel like you are there for a little while. :)

Haha! I knew you'd be proud of me. :)

Sunshine on My Shoulders makes my hubby cry- his grandma used to sing along to it all of the time.

I've read a few books set in the south, I need to find more! I love, love movies set there- especially like The Skeleton Key, and The Gift.

:D :D Of course!

Have you read the Ya Ya Sisterhood books? they are set in the south, and both "the prince of tides" and "beach music" (i liked this one more) are set in the south. Kinda disturbing..but set in the south. "cold mountain" is set in the south during the civil war, "gone with the wind," lets see...what else? I'm just gonna start listing them...i can't remember all the authors off the top of my head

Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sister Hood (Little Alters Everywhere, Ya-Ya's in Bloom - Rebecca Wells

Beach Music, Prince of Tides - Pat Conroy

Cold Mountain - ?? Frazier??

Gone with the Wind - Margret Mitchell

Cold Sassy Tree and Leaving Cold Sassy - Olive Anne Burns

Fried Green Tomatoes and the Whistle Stop Cafe - Fannie Flagg (almost, if not all, of her books are set in the south and are all pretty good)

The Secret Life of Bee's - Sue Kidd Monk

...hmmm that is all i can think of for now.

Wow, thanks for the list!

I have watched many times these movies- Fried Green Tomatoes and Cold Mountain. Have watched once- Prince of Tides, and Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood, but have not read the books of all but Fried Green Tomatoes. That is one of my favorites, and I'm about halfway through the book. I need to finish it. Prince of Tides was disturbing as a movie, so I'm guessing the book will be even more so- I'll have to find it. I will look for the others- I'm sure I'll love to read them. If you think of any more, post them!
