Summary: Taking care of a child was harder than Hyukjae thought.
Hyukjae breathes out slowly, palms sweating as his son grips his hand tightly, refusing to let go. He looks to his left at Donghae chuckling down at Kyuhyun who is reaching up with his free arm for his father’s hand. Kyuhyun happily skips down the road, pulling them along with him. His eyes meet Donghae’s and his husband gives him an encouraging smile.
Just a few more hours, Hyuk, be patient? His eyes plead him.
Hyukjae sighs, Leeteuk was right, taking care of a child is tiring. He has just been pulled through 2 candy shops, 3 toy stores, and is on his way to his fourth. There is nothing he wants more than to go on a date with Donghae, just to spend time alone together, without the giggling little Kyuhyun between them. Not that he resents his son, Kyuhyun just takes up too much of Donghae’s attention. When it could be spent on him. No, he isn’t jealous. Of course not.
Kyuhyun lets out an excited squeal and runs into his new area of exploration, finally letting his parents’ hands go and running into rows of stacked toys. Hyukjae breathes a sigh of relief and watches Kyuhyun run off.
Before he has a chance to do anything he feels a soft peck of lips on his cheek. Hyukjae closes his eyes and sighs in satisfaction.
“What,” Donghae murmurs into his ear, his voice enticing but amused.
“I’ve been waiting for that for the entire day.” Hyukjae replies, his eyes still closed.
“I know. Don’t worry, wait till we get home.” Hyukjae jumps when he feels something warm lick the shell of his ear.
“Yah, keep it PG here,” he hisses as Donghae wiggles his eyebrows and gives him a smirk before reminding him, “Care to go find our son now?”
Hyukjae scans the area and curses. Among the tons of kids running around between the vast displays of toys, how is he able to find Kyuhyun? He stares helplessly at Donghae.
“We can take our time,” Donghae says, slipping his hand into his and pulling him for a leisurely stroll between the high stacks of children’s toys. And as Hyukjae sees his son running excitedly into his husband’s arms, he thinks to himself contently, he couldn’t have asked for more.
