My driver's license expired on my birthday this past year - I plum forgot. In all honesty, I use my ID so little that it's easy to forget. I don't get carded and I don't get speeding tickets, so it's easy to let the renewal date slip through the cracks ( Read more... )

I vote for the complete inconsistency being the worst. Everybody's completely forgotten how paranoid we were not too long ago.

Yeah, I've had some "oops" moments après sécurité. I've accidentally left a pocket screwdriver in my carry on bag, things of that nature-and discovered them AFTER I've been injected, inspected, detected, infected, neglected and selected (apologies to Mr. Guthrie...) that they were in my bag long forgotten. I'm not sure which emotion is stronger-relief that I didn't have to throw [fill in the blank] away, or scared that they were laxer than a dead chaperon.

As to the DL? Can totally relate. I think mine expired like 6 months ago, and I've never gotten around to renewing it. I will, just keep procrastinating. Quite frankly, I have a passport, so if I need to ID myself, then I'm covered. I plan on getting one of those passport cards, they're like $20 if you already have a paper passport. I figured, it's nice to have extra ID if needed.
