Today I posted the prompts for
round #6, which will be open February 1st to the 28th. Like I said today, I'll post the next round's challenges on the 10th of each month, so I'll be posting details for round #7 (March) on February 10th.
But I'll let everyone know now that the theme challenge for that round will be the free-for-all one, where members comment with prompts and a writer can claim one as soon as I post the challenges (which we all know now will be on Wednesday, February 10th). So what I need from you, now, are the prompts.
Prompts can be anything, as general or as specific as you want it. Words, quotes, pieces of dialog, whole plots...whatever you can think of or would personally like to see written. You can get an idea for some by checking out unclaimed VM
comment_fic prompts
here.
The catch is that you don't know who is going to claim one of your prompts, so there's no guarantee it's going to be a writer you know and love. But it wouldn't be a free-for-all otherwise, right? Also, if you don't want your plot to be a pairing you aren't a fan of, then specify which pairing(s) you had in mind (or don't and let the writer decide).
You can write as many prompts as your heart desires or your imagination can conjure up. On the 10th, or any time after that, writers can pick up to two ANY prompts that they intend to write a fic for, and they'll do that by replying to your prompt comment and claiming the one they want. After one prompt is claimed, it's off limits to anyone else.
One other thing:
I'm hoping we'll get lots of prompts, but with our 2 entry limit rule, a lot of them would go unclaimed. And since this challenge in general was inspired in part by
comment_fic, it doesn't seem fair to forget about ficlets. So what we'll do here is allow writers to have one week after the challenges are posted to claim up to two prompts they want to write full fics for, then after that all other prompts will be up for grabs for drabbles or ficlets (usually defined as anything 500 words or less). Two entry rule is being waived for this round! Claim as many as you think you can write (either full fics, ficlets or drabbles) but try to be smart about it! Don't claim a bunch of prompts and then not fill them. If you do that, you're cheating the person who left the prompt, other writers who might have snagged it instead, and the entire community by denying them fic! If a writer claims a lot of prompts for ficlets or drabbles, I just ask that they combine some in one entry rather than creating a new post for each one.
So starting right now, comment here with your prompts. You can keep coming back to this post adding more prompts with a new comment. If you think you might want to write something, you can start scoping out other comments now and getting those ideas churning (just be sure that if you start on a fic inspired by a prompt, you get here early on the 10th to claim it!)
Have fun!
