This really doesn't have much, if anything to do with Fruits Basket, but it has a little more to do with the topic of abuse.  After dissecting it and looking at the different types of scars, I feel like it's necessary to say that these scars can heal.  There is no predetermined time table or anthing like that, but there is a source of peace that

I'm about a third through the anime, and it certainly is thought-provoking. I like how the protagonists are building a family outside of their birth families that were broken or hurtful, and how they're trying to heal with people who have understanding and compassion for them. I'm looking forward to finishing the series and then having more discussions.

I'm glad you're liking it. I love the courage the characters had to try and leave, and the fact that it wasn't a single choice-they still struggled even after they left the main house.
