Today I am pondering on the way in which slang completely changes everything. (To get it, I guess you have to know what beaver is slang for. If you aren't sure, I'll let you figure it out for yourself.) I found a book (from 1994) in the English center my husband is running:

It is titled "Far-Fetched Pets: Your Pet Beaver."Let me quote for you

This reminds me of a discussion about the plumbing company Roto Rooter. Apparently rooting has a different connotation in Australia.

I suspect the book's author knew the slang meaning and had fun. :)
