Well he looks like an awesome photographer. I'm intimidated just looking at the slideshow.

I'm no pro but maybe try different makeup styles and take a few pictures of yourself with them. They don't have to be good pictures, but just to see how it looks on film. Of course it'll look different with the lighting and stuff, but then you can also test it out with your outfit.
