Someone please recommend me an off the wall, obscure, possibly nerdy, interesting film that makes great use of color, lighting and/or story. I need to watch a film for a communications paper and I want to make this paper and my experience writing it interesting ( Read more... )

For really good lighting and color and obscure go for Virgin Suicides, Silent Hill, Royal Tennebaums (or pretty much anything Wes Anderson), Moulin Rouge, Vanity Fare, Fargo, Enternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, anything hitchcock or Elephant (if you can sit through it).

No Country for old men would be a good choice even though you are trying to impress people with weird movie tastes because of the angles and the beautiful use of no music ever.

Lord of the Rings no matter how lame it sounds.

Any movies set in WWII or I, I think military films are always amazing.

Hmm..

I have not seen it but I hear a Clockwork Orange is absolutely insane.

BRAIN FART. I can barely remember anything.

Excellent! I'll have to check some of these out. I'm torrenting Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (recommended by my dad) and Shrooms (by my sister) but I've been meaning to watch quite of few of these and totally forgot about them.
