We were talking about cars at work the other day. Specifically hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. it wasn't the hydrogen that went boom, it was the paint. You see, the germans thought it would be great to paint the outside of there derigibles with iron oxide (to inhibit oxidation) and aluminum powder (to inhibit UV degradation of the canvas). Well, dear reader, what do you get when you combine iron oxide and aluminum powder? that's right, timmy, thermite.

The hindenberg was the worlds largest thermite bomb, with a hydrogen trigger.

Yeah, we were talking about that as well. However I chose to go for the cheap joke in my post as it involved less typing. :)
