The new tires I recently had installed on my car are much better on the snow and ice then the old ones. However both sets of tires have far more traction then the shoes I wore this morning.
i gingerly stepped down my driveway towards my car this morning. and didn't exactly like what was happening. so i put my bag with my lappy down in the snow, and decided i'd just slide until i hit my bumper, bounce off a little, and get to my door handle. it worked awesome, actually. 'course, i nearly had a cartoon fall in the parking lot at work.
You just reminded me of a mostly pointless story I have.
About a month or so ago I was going to go help a friend take down a wall in the house he is renovating. In the back of my closet I had these old steel toe lab safety boots that I got for a job I had the summer after freshman year. So I went to put these boots on. They felt kinda weird. I thought that was mostly because I had not worn them in a few years.
So I get out of the house and immediately I feel like there are a few rocks stuck in the tread. I looked at the bottom of the things and the soles are completely covered in rocks from the driveway. I think that is odd so I take them off for a closer look.
Basically the things were so old that the rubber in the soles had started to break down and were all sticky like a driveway patch on a hot summer day. I didn't know that could even happen.
Needless to say I threw out the rock covered, sticky soled, nasty old work boots. Though perhaps they would have come in handy today. If nothing else they had an abundance of
