Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Politics, skip now if you want.

I don't really like these town hall format debates as much. I got bored more quickly and ramaba and I started chatting about stuff that related to the debate only tangentially. I did try and pay some attention, though, through making dinner (mmmm...off-the-cuff scallops with asparagus pasta!) and other distractions ( Read more... )

I agree with your assessment. It was boring! On energy I also like McCain's stand on Nuclear Energy previously advocating the immediate construction of 45 plants which would take about 8-10 years to come on line. This is about the only area I agree with him. FD

Maybe they could have made it more interesting by allowing the audience to shine laser pointers in the candidates' eyes when they disapproved of what they were saying.

We watched the debate and I thought the format was atrocious. It was not a town hall meeting at all. Obama and McCain might have well been at podiums. Brokaw did a terrible job. He said there would be questions from the audience and the internet, each candidate would have 2 minutes to respond, and then there would be a 1 minute discussion. That 1 minute discussion turned into a debacle. Instead of letting Obama and McCain rebut what the other had said, Brokaw always asked a new question of his own. That's why the candidates kept running over on time ( ... )

Yeah, we watched CNN before and after the debate, but I didn't really care to see their little meter of how much voters in Columbus were digging each candidate, so we switched stations during the actual debate.

Apparently the last one is supposed to be of this format, too. Perhaps it would be best if we just had the moderator comatose and had Obama and McCain duel with those little fighting nun puppets.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. I think the format intentionally sapped most substance from it in an effort to not let the candidates royally screw up.

You could write me in, but unfortunately I won't be the age limit until the 2012 cycle.

I was going through my old computer files recently and actually found some vodgut for emperor president 2012 campaign graphics I had created in 2004. Maybe one of these days I'll post those as some recycled stock footage of stuff I did years ago.

My platform was and is one of beer, vodka, buffalo wings, steak, naked ladies, heavy metal, astronomy, science fiction, burgers, Linux, guns, sports teams I like, and zombies.

I dunno, would you buy me lunch?

Yep, the format was beyond stupid.

We watched CNN before and afterwords, but turned to PBS here for the actual debate so we didn't have to watch the little graph of reactions. I didn't want theirs influencing mine.
