I've been thinking and maybe a solution to the whole members-only thing would be to allow people to choose whether they'd like to friend-only their posts or not. If one feels at ease with everyone and their dog to see what they've posted and want to attract more people then leave the post unlocked, if they are not-so-happy to share - friendlock it. We all have that option when we post. What do you think?
It is a solution, but I don't think it's THE solution.
A lot of people are obviously unhappy at the lack of protection within the community as a whole and it is easy to forget to friendlock posts. I know some people who already do this. But the fact remains that almost everyone who has commented on this matter has said they would like to see the community become Members Only and have anonymous posts banned.
Nothing personal, but I think it's ill-advised of any moderator in any community to not pay attention to what their members have to say about the rules and such. And in this case, the members seem to be saying that they want the community locked.
Since an overwhelming amount of the members want the community locked, that's most likely how it will be. I am definately not a dictator-mod. The will of the members (who are the reason there is a community) is more important than my personal opinion on the subject.
