Dance legend and Butoh pioneer Kazuo Ohno died at 103.
I was lucky enough to see him perform "Water Lilies" at the Walker in Minneapolis. At the time, he was well into his eighties and still very powerful on stage. Stray Dog at Siskel: Haven't seen this in a long time as it's not one of my favorites. The 15-minute montage of Mifune walking around the city, trying to look desperate so some gun dealers will approach him is just insane. Last Wednesday I took the overnight bus to Minneapolis for my brother's wedding.

Shigeyama Kyogen
At work we hosted a kyogen performance by the Okura School, Shigayama family of performers from Kyoto at U. Chicago. Kyogen is a comic form of theater that developed alongside noh around the 14th century. It was usually performed as comic interludes in between noh plays (Japanese theater typically goes on all day).
