A member of the Church who supports gay marriage can't honestly say he or she is truly an adherent of the Church. In a sense I somewhat agree with the preacher's second point.

Considered how divided the authorities of the Anglican Church are divided over the issue it seemed more like an issue not really related to the points at hand and the general theme of love. It felt off task, espeically since he spoke it with so much venom (which is difficult to connect to the theme of love).

It always seemed to me that anti-homosexuality has historically been Church canon, even if only in an informal sense. I personally chalk up the recent division to a growing body of heretics. Christianity, as a religious and bureaucratic institution, has never truly been about an extremely broad type of love that some people interpret Jesus to have been teaching.
