If you make a promise or a vow, you generally are supposed to keep it. Hence, the whole point of making one.

And what is it with people that when I finally am truly happy for the first time in a while, they have to screw things up? I mean, I finally find a guy I truly like and who truly likes me... and this happens. Hmm.
