Sounds familiar. I suffered terrible anxiety- and guilt-based insomnia for about 8 months in 2005, and I still get it on & off now. For about 12 weeks I had a maximum of 4 hours sleep a night, and it was hell.
What's helped a lot is learning where the guilt comes from (through shrinkery), because once you know its origin, its easier to firgive yourself (if necessary) & deal with it.
But, a good short-term fix could be melatonin. You can buy it OTC in the US (you have to order it from the internet in the UK).
