I am reminded of the time that the head of tech services invited us junior catalogers into her office to meet the head cataloger from the most prestigious library of our kind in the country, who was in town for some reason. We were to listen to her talk (and talk, and talk, as it turned out), and absorb the wisdom of her description of the shining, gleaming, perfect cataloging her staff produced.

Instead, she told us tales of workaday, seat-of-the-pants, shove-it-out-the-door-when-necessary cataloging, the same kind that we produced. That's what I thought of as I read of your adjustments of 120,000 to 1999,990 and even 199,905. Whatever works, baby.
