Stuff

I survived! Yesterday was the last day of classes! True, exams are left, but I'm still counting this as the end of the semester. Because honestly, I am through. Done. I quit.

So, I have had thoughts and no time to post, which I will do now.

Stuff that does still need to be done before I can leave:

1) Two essays for Japanese Lit: the recently assigned Final Essay to be done by Thursday night, and the Term Paper that is late and needs to be done before Tuesday so I can return the book to the friend who loaned it to me.

2) History Exam tomorrow at noon, so need to catch up on the readings tonight and at least outline the given essay prompts.

3) Practice the viola da gamba (imagine a cello, but not) so I don't make a complete fool of myself at the dress rehearsal Saturday and the concert Sunday. Speaking of, if anyone's in the UNC-Chapel Hill area, you might wanna come to it. Er...can't remember the exact details of when and where, but leave a comment if you're interested.

4) Next exam is Latin on Monday, and that's as far ahead as I'm thinking.

Tonight, I also have to write my undermistletoe fic. God, it's like I'm afraid of starting the damn thing. Even though I know what and how I wanna write it!

Death death death. (<-- that's me being frustrated)

Also, related to fandom type things: I missed out on the "Prove you're real!" meme. I'm totally a sockpuppet. ::nods:: Totally.

Created by...uh...

anyone wanna claim me?

Oh! And if you don't already know:

Love meme with a twist!

And those fandom thoughts lead me to Atlantis's latest ep: Irresponsible

Mainly, I do wish they had split the Lucius-being-scummy plot from the Koyla one. Koyla was their best bad guy, and I would've loved seeing him like, once a season, for the next several seasons. I loved the respect he and John had for each other: scary man recognizing scary man. But I wish that John had shot Koyla as he said the line, "Didn't think so." That would've felt more real for me. Snark, bam! No showdown.

And with Lucius: I like him as a character. I love to hate him, you know? And thankfully, he wasn't as...greasy, this episode.

Also, the whole...cowboys and Swiss mountains village thing was hilarious. WTF man.

So, very cheesy and had so much room for improvement, but I still enjoyed it. Especially John's smirk when the Genii shot at him. Such a dork.

Speaking of episodes, remember the end of Irresistible? Where Rodney used the herb on John, who went running off to clean his room for him? And the outrage at that?

That scene honestly didn't bother me, and I finally realized why.

Because I realized that Rodney is an elementary-grade kid. Seriously, remember Calvin and Hobbes, the comic by Bill Waterson?

Well, if you don't: one of the comics was about Calvin making well-behaved clones of himself, so they could go to school and clean his room for him. That's what a little kid thinks about when you ask them what they'd do if they could make someone do whatever the kid wanted.

Adults think about date-rape and the other possibilities for abuse.

Elizabeth and the others were thinking as adults. Rodney? Was thinking as a 6th grade boy. Only he's the kid who liked doing his homework (when it didn't bore him), so that left room-cleaning.
