what is summer?

just a thought i got from watching this. i mean, aside from the obvious: it's a season, comes after spring and before autumn, it's hot ~ what makes it summer? is it barbecuing on the patio? chasing after the ice cream truck? going to the beach? eating watermelon? soaking up the sun?

so, what does summer mean to you?

For me, I would have to say that Summer is my time to enjoy the heat that we have so little of in South Dakota and of course, to enjoy doing my hobby of rose gardening and veggie gardening!

What about you, Imoutochan, what do you enjoy doing? =^^=

as well as backyard barbecuing and enjoying the sun. oh, and swimming and bike riding and rollerblading.

To me summer means. Shorts, heat, swimming pools and nothing but free time(or lack thereof because of work)

the opportunity to wake up slowly in the morning not to your snooze button or the thought of being late somewhere, but just smiling in pure bliss ^__^

As the beautiful regina spektor sings
"summer in the city means cleavage cleavage cleavage
I’ve been staying up and drinking in a late night establishment
telling strangers personal things"

Summer is summer because the long rays wake up everyone's stirrings. It's warm enough to live fully and take in every single moment and do everything at a leisurely pace. joie de vivre. The things you listed, people do those all year round in countries with more days of sun, we just have so little of it, we're on a tight deadline to get in our fill.
