I'm not a fan of telemarketers, but I found a new low today. First, they're calling fairly early in the morning on the 4th of July. I think calling on national holidays is kind of smart, but more than anything annoying. If I'm at home, I'm finally having a day off. I consider this approach to be very rude and sneaky. It's downright evil for charities to use tactics like this, so I suppose the next time someone pulls something like this on me, I'll tell them that I was thinking about a much larger donation this year... something like $1,000. They'll get all excited and then I'll cut in with "but your tactics have turned me off, so I've changed my mind and I won't be giving this charity anything, today. Bye. *click*"

Or maybe that's just stupid, too, and hanging up on them is the right thing to do...

that's just awful.
I have this little gadget that you connect to the RJ11 cord. All you have to do is press it and it'll say something like "We don't accept these kinds of calls here, don't call again". :-)
