Damn, that's pretty fucked up. I really think that, if you have the cashed check, then your insurance company should be able to straighten this out pretty quickly. If they don't help you, then I would switch your insurance company ASAP. That is just completely insane.

Can you call someone to help you get to work?

I hope things get better soon. I know what it is like when one thing after another just keeps piling up on top of you. I'm having a bit of it myself. I keep telling myself that all this stuff is temporary and that at some point I will be in a better place. I'm just not there yet.

Wow! That's awful. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help (even if it's only to find someone who really can).

I don't know anything hardly about criminal law but I'm pretty sure that if the insurance company cancelled your policy without proper cause and/or without notifying you, you should be able to nail them (possibly for treble damages) in a civil action.

Hope it all works out somehow.

Unholy Satan’s stinking vomit, that’s awful! I think this would be a very good situation in which to get a lawyer as soon as you can. With some luck, you might be able to get the lawyer’s fees eventually paid by your insurance company. (And a lawyer’s letter might well forestall difficulties at work while this is all getting sorted out, although considering where you work, it may not have as much impact as it might elsewhere.)

I am so so sorry about all this. Big hugs.
