Here are some general things I like:
(by no means an obligation or a checklist)
I like humor.
I love plots.
I love folklore and working off of mythologies and urban legends.
I love examining the relationships between people
I like math and science, especially when taken to the brink of implausibility
I have a weakness for puns.
I like politicking and murder mysteries and conspiracies and complicated plots, but these are hard and would be totally beyond the call of duty.
Did I mention I like humor? Because a touch of humor in any story is awesome, even if it's a tragedy.
I like a little grain of discomfort/unease mixed into otherwise pleasant stories.
I like a strong sense of setting or culture
I like a sense of impending disaster.
I like it when an author's love for the characters and story really shows.
Here are some things I'm not really into:
Characters being unpleasant to each other all of the time (fine in small amounts and fine if it's in character, but too much of it starts to get me down)
Character bashing. Believe it or not, there are very few characters in these series that I don't like. If you strongly dislike a character, I would prefer that you just not write for them and instead write something you do enjoy.
Introspective stories that don't have things happening. I like things to happen. They don't have to be big things, just. Something beyond just thinking.
Stories that work at a different emotional level than the source material.
Porn. (okay, I don't dislike porn, I'm just very picky and specific about what I like. The odds of you pleasing me with this are pretty low unless you know me well)
Specific fandoms:
有頂天家族 | Uchouten Kazoku | The Eccentric Family
Benten | Suzuki Satomi
Shimogamo Yasaburou
note: this series is only 13 episodes and is available for free on crunchyroll
Benten is so fascinating and cool and powerful and sad and aah I just love her. And Yasaburou is so foolish and caring and self-defeating and lively. My nomination was for both of them, but if you prefer one over the other, I'm okay with a story that only involves one of them. Some things I'm interested in are: how Benten coped with the early years of her kidnapping, her and Yasaburou's early days with Akadama and how it went wrong, perhaps something to do with their powers--Benten's flying seems so effortless and I love how Yasaburou would transform his shape in the first episode but his body language never ever changed because he didn't care. Tanuki culture is interesting to me, and I also enjoy Yajiro and Kaisei as characters if you're looking to expand out.
If all else fails, I would love a Tanuki version of Prop Hunt.
大神 | Okami
Chibiterasu (Okami)
Chibiterasu is adorable, and I'd love to see something about him and his mommy either before or after the events of Okamiden (she would be so proud!). Or him headbutting Waka because HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DONE. Or cute mythology-based adventures, or him and Issun carrying on the family tradition, or something to do with Kurow because his deal was so sad and Chibi needs closure. Just. Puppies and mythology!
If by some odd coincidence you chose "Any" for Okami but have not played Okamiden and don't know who Chibiterasu is and are freaking out, I would be fine with you not including him and instead writing something mythological about Ammy and/or Waka.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV 2008)
CT-7567 | Rex (Clone Wars 2008)
I am fascinated by the bits of clone culture we get in the tv series, how we get these little bits and pieces of the society they have built up, the traditions, the naming conventions and tattoos and haircuts and clone bars and how they care for their little brothers. It's a fragile little culture that only ultimately lasts a few decades, and I'd like something that expands on it a little. Some ideas are: Rex's command training and how he got his name, the growth of his friendship with Cody or Ahsoka, why he was no longer with Anakin when Anakin attacked the temple. I'm not very familiar with the expanded universe in Star Wars, so if you use anything from that, please try to write in an explanation so I know what's going on.
Clones! ♥
Drag-On Dragoon 3 | Drakengard 3
Zero (Drakengard 3)
Zero and her family! I love grumpy, badass, crude Zero and how, despite her solitary personality, she keeps growing a family around herself. I'd like to see something with her being cute with Mikhail, or how she relates to her sisters (I particularly like Two), or her and her doofus harem of stolen disciples (trollish Cent riling up short-fused Dito is hilarious, and Decadus is embarrassing and adorable). Despite the source, I'd prefer to not receive porn for this one. Innuendo and sexy banter and implications are fine and, in fact, encouraged.
月刊少女野崎くん | Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Hori Masayuki
Kashima Yuu
note: this series is only 13 episodes and is available for free on crunchyroll
I love it when Kashima makes Hori's life hell. I want them to stay involved in each other's lives, for better or worse, forever. I want her to perform at his wedding (whether he wants it or not). I want him to keep accidentally casting her or writing her into whatever show he directs. I want her to be his muse and him to be her inspiration, with all the ridiculousness and frustration and awesomeness that entails. I prefer them as creative rather than romantic partners, but still very close and wrapped up in each other.
I think I should have made it clearer in my prompt that if you do want to write them during the school setting that's totally cool and I would also love it. Just something with these two being obsessive over and frustrated and inspired by each other.
