A/N: I've had this idea in my head for a while. I like the idea of Key comforting Jonghyun. Enjoy~
Kibum hears the shower running and slowly gets out of bed, his ankles cracking softly as he pads across the hotel room.
Steam envelops him as he opens the bathroom door, causing his eyes to squint slightly. Through the noise of running water, a voice calls out, “Key? Is that you?”
“Yeah,” the younger boy answers as he starts to strip off his clothes.
Before stepping into the shower, Kibum takes a peek at himself in the mirror and pats his bedhead hair down. He’s not sure why, because it’ll just be getting wet in a few seconds anyway.
Jonghyun turns to give him a lazy smile when the curtain is pulled back. The singer stands slumped directly underneath the showerhead, letting the water run down his body. Kibum watches as droplets fall off of his curled fingertips.
The older boy steps aside to let the dancer have a turn underneath the shower. While he runs his hands through his hair, Kibum watches Jonghyun. The singer leans his back against the tile wall, a long sigh spilling from his mouth. He blinks slowly before hanging his head and closing his eyes. The dark circles stand out dramatically in the dimly lit room.
Kibum steps forward and pulls Jonghyun into his chest, wrapping his bare arms around him gently.
“I’m so tired,” Jonghyun mutters, his breath ghosting over Kibum’s collar bone.
The younger boy nods. There is no need for words. Understanding flows from his body and seeps in through Jonghyun’s pores. He knows. He knows.
They stand under the stream for an immeasurable amount of time, holding each other until they feel ready to face the world.
“A day at a time,” Kibum says quietly. “Take it a day at a time.”
